Assessment of Prediction validity in cl III Orthognathic Patients by Dolphin Software

Objective:
Prediction of orthognathic surgery results in the most controversial problem in orthodontic surgery for CL III malocclusions.The CL III malocclusion has rate of 1 to 13% in the population of dentofacial  deformities. Assuring the patients about the result of the treatment has a great impacton patient motivation to go through the treatment plan.  In this study, Dolphin Imaging software was used to evaluateand help the clinician & patient to predict the result of surgery.
Methods & Materials:
In this retrospective study on CL III skeletal with normal growth pattern whom undergone orthognathic surgery to resolve their problem were compared with the result  werepredicted in which achieved by dolphin software. The morphology and anatomy of maxilla and mandible were not normal. In this study, 20 lateral cephalograms before and after surgery were scanned and computer was used with the aid of dolphin Imagingsoftware, 17 data of both prediction procedure of the software and manual one with paired T test analyzed.
Results:
This study showed that 9 males (45%) and 11 females (55%) with average  age of 21.3 I ± 2.5 between the age of  17  to 26 years showed that 17 analyzed measurements except the lip position significantly acceptable ( P < 0.0001)
Conclusion:
Evaluating the tracing data by Dolphin software in 94.2% was acceptable. Dolphin software was acceptable to evaluate soft and hard tissue.
