The comparison of microleakage under metal brackets after common mouthwashes applications in Iran ( In vitro study)

Objective:
White discoloration under brackets after orthodontic treatment is one of the unwanted side effects and   it is one of the causes of patients dissatisfaction about treatment .The aim of this study was the comparison of micro leakage under metal brackets after common mouthwashes applications in Iran regarding the evaluation of mouthwash effect on bonding materials.
 Methods & Materials:
100 healthy maxillary premolar teeth according to the type of mouthwash, divided into ten groups. After bonding an stainless steel bracket with no- mix bonding resin to the buccal side of teeth , the samples of each group were immersed two frequent days (each day: 6 hours) in the mouthwashes " oral-B , NA  fluride  ,  persica, irsha, matrica, cholorhexidine , otrhokine, listerin , plax , banzodamine." After termocycling and coloration with % 5 basic foshin, the teeth sectioned in the buccolingual direction and the amount of micro leakage was accessed with stereo microscope.
Results:
In  the  microscopic  evaluation , micro leakage was seen in all the groups ,  grade I of micro leakage in the %65  ,  grade II of micro leakage in the %54 and   grade III of micro leakage in the %33 of samples. The lowest mean of micro leakage was seen in the N A  fluride, cholorhexidine , listerin and matrica groups respectively and The highest mean of micro leakage was seen in the banzodamine group.  
Conclusion:
According to high amount of white discoloration under brackets after orthodontic treatment, it seems mouthwash administration can reduce this side effect.
